Yes. All tenants are required to have current renter’s insurance uploaded to their tenant portals. Renter’s insurance is pretty affordable for all it offers. It will cover loss, damage, and many other circumstances that are out of your control. It can even cover personal property theft from your vehicles.

Lemonade and Progressive offer renter’s insurance at a great price. These companies have basic policies for very cheap rates. But they also can offer full coverage policies too.
WHAT KIND OF COVERAGE DO I NEED?
You can talk out your coverage with your agent to make sure all your items are covered. If you have a pet please make sure you add that to your insurance because pet damage is not covered by renters’ insurance unless specified.
You first will want to double check all the information you provided. Did you fill out your application correctly regarding the property address, type of residence (multi family for apartments, single family for houses), your personal information, etc.? Have you filed a claim in the past that has impacted your ability to get coverage? Talk with your agent before admitting defeat. There is always a way to find another insurance provider when this occurs.
I HAVE A CLAIM TO FILE BUT I’M NOT SURE HOW.Any time something occurs and you’re not sure what to do- this is what your agent is for. You should have a general claims number with any company you purchase insurance from. Call the number or email your agent directly to begin your claim. Claims can be anything from replacement costs of stolen property to relocation costs due to damage in your unit. Insurance is there to be used so make sure you understand how it will pay off to have it.
Remember- insurance is required, so take some time to learn more about it. It can really pay off one day when you need it!
